ASTRONOMY CENTER - KYBALION
Maunsell Marine Strengths - UNITED KINGDOM
With the outbreak of World War II, the port of London was the busiest port in the world. As such, a large proportion of supplies to the United Kingdom entered by vessels sailing the River Thames. The German navy quickly tried to put absolute mastery over this route, and for that, it uses a new secret weapon - magnetic mine influence. Although there were different variants of this mine, in simplistic terms, the mine was detonated by the presence of a large magnetic object - such as a steel-hulled ship - that passed very close, without having to make physical contact.
Chico Maunsell, a civil engineer, had made plans for marine defenses. At the time his ideas were considered somewhat eccentric, but he was asked to come up with plans for a fort on the high seas as an effective means of dealing with the placement of mines. Plans were made, and after some modifications, it was approved for the manufacture and installation of forts on the high seas, called the Mounsell Fortresses.
Each tower was built outside a reinforced concrete base. Four 3 "diameter reinforced concrete hollow legs supported the two-story steel pail, with the necessary military equipment installed on the upper deck.
Each fortress comprised seven towers joined by tubular steel walkways.
The purpose of the contest was to design an Astronomical Center in the seven towers of the fort, incorporating an observatory, a planetarium, an agora, conference room, workshops and accommodation for 50 people.
The concepts required by the organization were to incorporate density, ecology, detail, scale, limit, mobility, nature and housing into the project.
It was established as a project idea to implement the Seven Principles of kybalión linked to the concepts that were required as the premise of the contest. For you
Man already desires his existence has been concerned to investigate and explore the unknown.
The project was developed in the "seed of life" and the trunk idea in the "7 Principles of Kybalion".
The seed of life arm geometry by acting as a basic component of the flower design of life (the future expansion).
The 7 principles of the Kybalion are applied in each of the project towers, for example, the spectators in a 360 ° planetarium, referring to the universe as a whole. Our mission was based on making the individual go through the stages of principles, and feel alone in the universe, this as a general container of the project.
